You might try straight forward cold mounting with Drytac (Twintac) adhesive tissue. Simple and quick.

Is Twintac made by Grafix? I am not sure where to get this. Will it stick to Plexi and be durable unlike PMA or sprays?

Here is a source for the cold adhesive. Tell them what you are doing and the press you are using for best advice. Most sign makers use roller presses and low end for them is in the $10,000 range but they can advise you on best practices.

Made by Drytac with aqueous acrylic adhesive. So, acrylic bonding to acrylic seems like a good bond. Definitely a better bonding solution that PMA or spraymount. Best to test the Twintac, or call Drytac and ask them. You are NOT facemounting onto the plexi -- you are doing a regular mount -- is there such a term as backmounting, the opposite of facemounting?

Perhaps Jim Miller can chime in on acrylic adhesive for plexi ?
 
I visited my Plexi supplier in philly yesterday and gave him a copy of this thread. He and his assistant are saying that the crazing has more to do with the way Plexi is cleaned than the heat applied. They gave me a demonstration of flame polishing. The flame has to be narrow and pointed carefully.
They said people (especially in a restaurant such as Bob Evans) might be using Windex to clean and Ammonia will cause crazing.
I am going to include a bottle of Plexi cleaner with each shipment.

I remember being in a museum (of sorts) down in Sannibel, Fl that had a lot of plexi cases and covers for their stuff and ALL of them were crazing. I would bet the business that the cleaning crew was using a cleaner with ammonia in it.
Glass plus is ok as it doesn't have ammonia.

If the crazing is over all or most of the facing surface, then your speculation is probably right. But if the crazing is only along the seams, as shown in the photos I posted a few days ago, it's almost certainly the result of flame-polishing.
 
bad flame polishing is so easy in a production envioroment,

my local supplier who i have cut stuff, do flame polishing, depending on who is working on the day the results are soooo variable

as a result i have started having pieces diamond polished instead, the edges are sharper, and if done well the polishing marks are minimal

the other thing that can cause the edge crazing, bad glue and bad structure together, ie if the glue is not good and also if the structure is under stress or tension can cause it
 
I inquired about diamond cutting. It's too expensive for what we charge this particular customer. You are right about sloppy polishing. I see parts that they missed on the edges.
