WTB: WTB: Air Compressor for Eclipse XL 4060 CMC

Hello,

I’m new here, so my apologies if I post in the wrong place, ask something obvious, or go about something improperly.
I’ve recently purchased a used Eclipse XL 4060 CMC, but no air compressor was included. I’ve seen through some research that most people with one of these machines use an AMS CM50; but I’ve not been able to find any for sale in my area. I’ve also tried looking at the AMS website, but nothing loads there and the Facebook page is requiring me to log into an account (which I do not have) in order to see any posts. The most recent post I could see without signing in showed the posting date as January of last year, leading me to suspect they’ve ceased business operations. Please do correct me if I’m wrong.

Could anyone please recommend an alternative compatible air compressor that could possibly be found at an ACE Hardware or Harbor Freight store, etc. (or would their stock not be compatible?)? I’m looking for the easiest maintenance, as I’m not able to get around very well; but smaller compressors like the AMS CM50 won’t be a problem for me to handle.

Hi TAC12, and welcome to the G.

Almost any compressor with the required capacity measured in cubic feet per minute (CFM) would be compatible. Wizard would be the ones to check with if someone here doesn't know those numbers.
I have a small, 2 gallon, portable compressor I got from Costco about 15 years ago that is attached to my Wizard. It was made by California Compressor and rebranded for Costco. It is very quiet which is something to look for as many are quite loud. The dB levels should be listed for each machine.

Yes. California Air makes a nice line of (not silent, but) quiet compressors. I have one running my underpinner.
Quiet models are also available from various companies, including Makita, Husky, Senco, etc. and there are ones sold at Menards and at Harbor Frieght too.

I had recommend the AMS (art material service) CM50 because it is so reliable and as silent as a refrigerator or water cooler. Any compressor will do the job!

The CM50 was just a rebadged Silentaire, from Italy.

Just note the air requirements of your CMC model and make sure the compressor you buy will meet those. Most likely will. Also- the larger the tank, the less frequently the compressor will have to kick on.

About ifteen years ago I bought one similar to this from Harbor Freight. It served my CMC and pneumatic fitting tools satisfactorily. Now it resides in my garage for inflating car tires.
