Worn canvas

One of my framers just bought an old canvas at a yardsale. She noticed that the canvas is worn and cracking so that you can see through it when held up to light. She is not worried about conservation but would like to know if there is anything she could do to keep the canvas from comming apart. It is acrylic and maybe 30yrs old it was probually store in a bad environment.

Would you take off the stretchers and mount (pma) to another canvas and restretch?

Try Lascaux 360 instead of PMA. It's pretty user friendly and has a longer life and much greater elasticity. Available at www.talasonline.com
