Hi, I have a Wizard 9000z and for the past week or so the clamps have been much slower to release pressure and raise back up. About an extra 5 seconds before I can pull the mat out and put the next one in. This isn't a huge deal, but I am wondering if this is a sign of some sort of impending doom since it has never happened before. I am always paranoid of any changes. Does anyone know what would cause this? Is it normal? Thank you for any assistance.

Hi Ashley, and welcome to the G.
Basic pneumatic checks like air pressure, and making sure any filters and condensers are clear.
Basic questions like if you own or rent and if you own, do you have a service contract with Wizard?
Another is, does the maintenance guide say anything about adding pneumatic oil to the lines occasionally?
I'm more familiar with the earlier models, but the basics still apply.

Thank you for the reply. I own, but do not have a service contract so I am on the hook if anything happens 😬
I checked the air pressure earlier. My compressor is at 100 which seems to be recommended, but the regulator was 40. That is where it has always been set, so I thought it was fine but I noticed the manual recommends up to 60 so I will have to bump it up and test when I get back. Just because it wasn't an issue in the past doesn't mean it isn't now so fingers crossed that is all it is.
I haven't heard anything about adding oil to the lines. It just says to check lines for moisture which I don't have.

I have done some more troubleshooting. Increasing the air regulator made no difference, but if I use the low pressure clamp setting for delicate materials (pulling out the knob), then the clamps release right away like they used to. Does that mean it is an air pressure issue?

Most CMCs require a minimum of about 80psi, as far as I know. Compressor will be 80-120 or so, depending where it is in the cycle.

But that doesn't explain the issue you are having.

Yeah, I have been testing all different pressures on the compressor and the air regulator and none of it has made a difference on the clamp release. It just affects the cutting head.

Most CMCs have a second regulator of their own, I believe. (set to what it actually needs, not to the varying pressure from the compressor)

I think that is the regulator I have been adjusting. It is screwed to the stand of the cmc. It was around 40, but I increased to 60 to go with the manual. There is also an air adjustment on the cutting head, but I haven’t touched that. Compressor fluctuates from 100-120.

Hi @Ashley G -- we'd highly recommend subscribing to a Premium Service Plan on your CMC for peace of mind and unlimited access to troubleshoot any and all hardware or software issues (they are very affordable, as low as $85/month).
