Hi All, I'm new to the forum and hoping someone out there can help. I have an old C&H 4800 matt cutter that unfortunately has a broken Bevel Holder Top Plate - 78-8052-8861-6. I am searching for a replacement of this part or alternatively the entire slide block assembly - 78-8052-8892-1 and Bevel blade holder assembly 78-8052-8891-3. If anyone has these parts to sell, please contact me via the forum. I have tried Atscott and AIM without success.

Welcome Dlglogal1

That is a tall request as this is a custom part or assembly from a 40 year old, plus or minus, design for a mat cutter that is the main element of the design.
Your most successful search will be to find an intact cutter for sale that you can scrap all the other components. For shipping purposes the seller can then ship you the part you want.
The caveat is that this block assembly does wear out and what you might find might be worn out of specifications.
Another alternative is to have a local machine shop create a new one from scratch.

Thanks for the suggestion! It has been my workhorse for over 30 years, so not surprised that parts are rare. Hoping someone has a unit for sale that I can grab parts from...

Jerry is right. C+H machines were made by a company called Atscott, and they no longer have any replacement parts.
I still have an old C+H too that I mainly use for cutting shadowbox spacer strips or the occasional one-off mat. With all the retiring old framers these days, you might be able to find a similar cutter for sale as Jerry suggested. Or try contacting AIM Equipment.

I have a box of mat cutter parts in the back room.
Do you know if this same assembly that the C&H Advantage uses?
If so, I can compare the parts against my currently in use parts.
I may have parts to older machines mixed in.
I do not know why these parts became spares (at my old shop), so they may not be in perfect order.
I will try to check on them when I'm at the shop tomorrow.

Alacrity8, Thank you so much! I am not 100% sure if the Bevel blade holder top plate is exactly the same, but it might be possible to use the whole blade assembly and mount that with my existing block. Kind of you check what you have. Here are some photos of my unit:

I just checked and YES the entire 4800 blade assembly is interchangeable with the Advantage models. Looking forward to hear if you have any parts! Thanks again, David

Hopefully, you'll find one, but if not, could be 3-D printed?
A printed one might break, but is an idea.

Once a part is digitally processed into a CAD file they can be 3-D printed in many types of metal. They just will not be printed in consumer printers; but, expensive industrial printers. There are several printing services that offer this type of printing. This is one of the most promoted service companies of wide marketing viewership. https://www.xometry.com/capabilities/3d-printing-service/metal/ Custom Metal 3D Printing Service
One of my 3-D printers, a Markforge 2 industrial printer, will print carbon fiber reinforced nylon-12 filament and insert continuous carbon fiber reinforcement filament into the body.

Thanks for the replies so far! Hopefully someone out there has spare parts or a machine they wish to sell.

Here is my collection of spate top plates.

What parts do you NEED?
It's good to have spares, but it's good for them to get some use.

Based on your pictures, the brass looking slide block may fit your machine.
I have an Advantage and an Advantage Pro, both with a larger diameter bar for the slide block to slide on.

I need the Bevel Holder Top Plate (circled). If you are willing to part with two, I’d love to have a spare. I’ll send you a direct message…

Huge thanks to Alacrity8 for coming to the rescue! Parts arrived today and I'm back in business! So pleased I found this great community!
Without this forum, the global picture framing industry will simply collapse and never rise again...
