Is an 1/8th inch spacer enough for a floated pastel?

That should work if you're glazing it with glass. If you want to use acrylic, you may not be able to space it enough no matter what you use.

At that size, 1/8" is probably fine. With great big projects, 1/8" isn't always enough to keep the center from touching, so I checked.

I think the rule of thumb in preservation is a minimun of 1/8" from the surface of the art, so there is some adjustment for the thickness of the art. I tend to err on the side of caution and make shims 1/4".
