Hi all,

I have a customer who wants to preserve these flowers and put them in a box frame. i was going to double mount normal white mountboard and white frame.

Could someone please advise how i would attach them to the mountboard and preserve them in the best way. Is there something i can spray them with? Can i just glue down both?

Firstly, find a florist who can freeze dry the flowers. That will preserve most of the color of the flowers. You can hang them upside down until they air dry, but that takes time and the flowers tend to fade. As far as mounting goes, it's best to sew them to the backing by looping thread around the stems.

Welcome to the G!

Flowers in general fade and crumble. You could do a white mat, but I would float a second mat with quite a bit of space so any crumbles will hopefully drop in that channel.

I have no experience with drying flowers and preserving them. I second the florist, but I would have the customer handle that part themselves.

I have also seen them preserved, cast in resin, so they are somewhat of a block.

Right. As Ylva said, this is a situation where you have to be sure the customer doesn't have unrealistic expectations as to the stability, longevity, and appearance of these. And I too would leave any preservation efforts to a professional florist- and have the customer do that before having you do anything else. That is not the responsibility or skill set of a framer.
