Hi there! I had a customer bring in one of those movie posters that you see in the light boxes at the theater. Doing a little research, they are called Duratrans, usually printed on both sides (this one is only printed on one side) on a thin (7-10 mil) polyester film. It has some wrinkles so I would like to mount it somehow. The customer is the end user and it's not valuable (the movie got terrible reviews) so conservation isn't a huge factor, I just don't want to wreck it! Any ideas??

If the image on one side shows through the other, it's possible that mounting to black might help.
Either KoolTack preserve ultra on black mat/foam, or MountCor black foam core. The advantage of KoolTack is that it's reversable.
Advantage of MountCor is that it works at 130 degrees, and has minute holes all through it, which helps to remove air and prevent bubbling.

The posters in question are printed in reverse on the reverse side so that when light shines through them the saturation is not diminished. So visible "print-through" is not a problem as when mounting a newspaper article. (And, this one is only printed on one side.)
I think the real question is about dry mounting them even though they are printed on polyester film. Would heat affect them? Would they have to be mounted to self-adhesive substrate in a roller press? The ones I have done so far have been printed on thin paper, so no problem in a heat press.
 Rick

Thanks! I'm a big fan of KoolTack, but didn't know that MountCor temp is 130 with holes:)

Thanks Rick, I think I'll do a little more research about the heat tolerance of polyester film. I feel like it could go either way. No problem at all or a melted mess!
