Hi, I'm having my Morso chopper blades sharpened and I would love to hear advice on how to package them for shipping. I know they have boxes specially made for this - but I don't own one. Tech Mark (sharpening company) sells them but I wonder if I can get away with shipping with alternate packaging and then having them ship them back in the special box. Any tips on this? TIA

You can attach them to a piece of plywood with screws and washers using the existing holes, making sure the edges are flush with the surface of the plywood.
Then fashion a box with 1" thick styrofoam panels to ship it in.

I highly recommend getting their shipping box when they return them to you. It is perfect for shipping these.

TechMark in N. Little Rock, Arkansas. They are great at this, and also sell equipment, replacement parts, etc.

Thanks Rick, another question if I can? I have a Fletcher 5000 vlock underpinner, do you know where I can find a manual for it? I've checked this site and didn't see it.

My guess is the 5000 would be similar to the 5500, but I could not say.
Perhaps contact Fletcher-Terry. They may have some old manuals digitally archived.
I have used TechMark for decades for sharpening.
I have worked with Jill but I'm not sure if she's still there.
Many years ago I shipped my blades to them in the original styrofoam boxes with an outer cardboard box.
As the blades get sharpened over time they get a little smaller each time and they don't fit snug in the styrofoam anymore.
The blades can now rattle around in the shipping process.
Then one time I got the blades back and the tip of one of the blades was sticking about 1/4" out of the box.
The chopper blade was chopping out of the styrofoam.
Apparently, thank goodness, nobody was injured but it could have been bad.
I ordered the special wood boxes from TechMark and always used them since then.
As Wally mentioned, you can make your own wood holder until you get the box from TechMark.

And yes, she is still there. We contacted her within the past month to order some parts so we could change the oil in our EH (yes, that's a thing).

Here's a picture from my post in 2020.
The boxes were $20 and are easy to use but I didn't know they aren't selling them anymore now.
The bolts held the blades securely and I would put a piece of matboard in between the blades so it wasn't metal on metal.
You can make your own and use that.
