Thank you so much for taking the time to show this in detail! You made some very fine points about using thicker cord and not needing a crazy tension. I have used upholstery thread in the past which can absolutely be too thin, too strong, and damaging to the aida if pulled too tightly. Will switch to thicker cotton next time.

One question for the next lacing step you haven't shown: when lacing near the corners on the last two edges, do you lace your string through both layers of fabric as it folds and doubles up, or do you just go through the outermost and tuck the excess underneath with your fingers or a bonefolder? Or, does it even matter in your opinion?
 
I'll do a time lapse for the other direction and then maybe another for the actual matting and sink mount, but I don't go through both layers, just the outer - the folds don't need to be neat at all - best they even overhang the edges of the boards to make for less bulk, there's going to be at least 4 thicknesses of fabric in the corners

Roboframer! I have been practicing like a madwoman. 8 needlepoints laced last week, and I've got to say thanks again for making this look just as easy as pinning. Its ALMOST as fast now. Maybe it just seems quick when I get the speed racer theme song stuck in my head and revise it to "go speed-lacer GO!"

Excellent - another weapon in the armoury! This is one of only two jobs I can do sitting down and I've actually fallen asleep doing it! (French mats the other one).
