we have a pretty new gun and it doesn't 'drive' points consistently; might squeeze handle several times before shooting pints
Any ideas?
Also, there is a chrome plated knurled knob at back of gun.Whether fully tightened or as much as 1/2in threads exposed doesn't seem to have much impact. Which setting is best for max depth?

Screwed all the way in gives you the most force (compressing the spring more).
I have one that has no driving power, and it was barely used. Still can't figure it out and since we got a pneumatic one, the incentive isn't there to mess with it.
I also have 2 other manual ones that work.

thanks, Wally
we have a back up that must be as old as us
still works

We've had the hammer spring break without us noticing until the gun stopped driving the points all the way. As far as points being fired inconsistently, we found the problem was nearly always because the points had an extra thick line of glue joining them. The gun would shoot the point, but the next point didn't line up with the hammer because there was a wad of glue preventing the next point from dropping into position.
