Problem Difficult mat on Wizard for an odd puzzle

Hey there!

I have an odd shaped puzzle (circular with a wavy edge) and the customer would like a mat cut to almost the exact odd shape of the puzzle. I've done a few test runs just tracing a photo I've taken of the puzzle, but the dimensions are still slightly off. I've tried watching a few courses on the wizard university website, but I'm not seeing any material about the proportions of the trace. Is there an easier way to go about this and I am just lacking the wizard experience? I've seen a lot of super cool intricate designs done with the wizard and this isn't anything out of the ordinary in that regard.

Can you share an image of what you are working on?

Are you running Frameshop (with Trace), or the older Wizard program?
I am not a Wiz with Trace, but it is much easier than the older version.
If you are getting the shape correct, but the dimensions are wrong, you may be able to stretch the shape.
This is the time to use any scrap board you have laying around.

I’m not entirely sure, I’m new to the wizard as well. I believe we have frameshop 7 with trace. I’ll try to upload a picture!

So this is the more odd of the two puzzles, and some of the cuts I made that follow the exact shape but lots of trial and error in this so I’m hoping there’s just something I’m missing!

Yep - this is a job for the experts and Wizard support was always good.

If it is any consolation I tried using Path trace on my Wizard (circa 2013) and could never get it to do anything useful. I used a specialist matt cutting service for this type of work and it was money well spent so if you have such a business near you that may be an option.

Frameshop Trace is probably the way to go here.

You can also trace it in any vector based design software - Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape (free). Then import that shape into Wizard software. That’s how I made the opening for this bunny drawing. It was awkwardly cut out from a larger piece of paper and it was the best option.
