I’m trying to figure out where to place D-rings for an odd shaped piece of art. I don’t want to guess on placement, only to have to move the D-rings and leave holes in the back. I planned on using picture wire with the D-rings.
It’s 48“ x 21“ in the middle, and weighs 15 pounds. The photo is the back of the piece, just strung up so I can figure out the placement. Even with regular shapes, I’m always uncertain, and it takes me days of research and quintuple guessing my self. So frustrating. I like making the art, but when it comes to attaching hardware, I have some weird phobia I guess!
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

A two point hanging system would be a guess by anyone. Wire would be a nightmare*.
Look at Wall Buddies as Larry suggested, and at aluminum cleat hangers like EZ bar.
Both of these support the art perpendicular to the forces of gravity and are more stable in the long run.

*I can't tell how thick the flakeboard is, but wire puts a lot of horizontal tension on the art and can cause bowing of the substrate.

Thank you, I’ll check both of those out!
Now you have me concerned over the possible bowing of the board! I just attached
two hole D-rings and wire, to a 35 lb piece of plywood the other day.😮
