Did a search and haven't come across this:

Has anyone experienced any problems cutting fabric mats on a CMC?

Of course, I'll do a test cut or two prior, but I have a number of these to do (mostly Bainbridge AlphaLinen), and have never cut fabrics on a CMC ... just trying to pre-empt any possible problems ("trying" ).

Also, our CMC, typically, cuts from the front of the mat... I would assume fabrics should be cut from the back?

Thank you, in advance!

Haven't had any problems with my Fletcher. However, most are cut from the back. Sharp blade and good coating of adhesive on the slip sheet do the trick.

sharp blade on 12 with my wizard, no problems.

Have never had any trouble on the Gunnar 601.

We cut almost everything from the back (exception for V-Grooves).

You could check the blade depth by doing a single small line cut very near one edge.

Another trick you might try is placing a sacraficial piece of 4-ply (or thinner) matboard on top of your linen, use your 8-ply setting, and cut from the front. This will ensure that the "meat" of the blade (not the tip...it's weaker) will be cutting the linen. This should help you accomplish a cleaner end result. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Like Katman we've cut the openings from the back on our Fletcher F-6100, and also have sucessfully cut perfect V-grooves on the Bainbridge AlphaLinen, cutting from the face!
