I like to try and use up scraps in creative ways... Does that make me a hoarder?
 
They make great drawer pulls.

I sell them for $5 each to an artist who paints small scenes on them. Those wide plastics are the best. Talk about recycling.
 
Drawer pulls, what a great idea! I could make a bunch for my flat files. Got some colorful tall thin caps that would make some nice long pulls.
 
That's my contribution. Anyone else have an idea? We all have tons of these offcuts heading off to the dump.

Here's one: another customer uses the larger one as a business card holder.
 
A room divider I made for my gallery space. I can see people as they walk around my space and can still get work done.

That's a great idea! The ex- boss' partner used to take discontinued corner samples and use them in her birdhouses, too.
 
Thanks, I have two others. One is similar but yarn, the other is of albums. The first one I made, the albums is 8 by 8. The other two I wised up, they are 6 foot by 8 foot and can be sold and moved out the door :) The albums is too big for the door and will live here.

My brother uses moulding cut this way as the lids on small boxes he makes out of moulding scraps. The box part is made from moulding turned on its edge.

Hey Bruce: great idea! Consider it stolen.
 
Yep. Use suede matboard for the inside of the box and crown the lid with higher-end finials from Finial Showcase.
 
So far, so good. Chopped one today, but still figuring out how to join the four box sides. I'm thinking join the bottom at the same time as the sides.it will fill the space of the rabbet.
 
Roma Moulding offered boxes years ago made from their mouldings...

We used to make these several years ago. We 'liberated' the concept from Goat Island. Taller mouldings work best. The rabbet is the bottom, the back is the top and the face is the side. Just glue, no pins/wedges.

Use square scraps of 1/8" whatever (acrylic/masonite/chipboard - it won't matter 'cause it won't show) and adhere suede matboard scraps to both sides and insert it into the rabbet on the bottom of the box.

Make the lid the same way Skye made her ornament. Put a finial on top to serve as a handle (and also fill the hole in the center of the 'lid'. Finial Showcase has awesome, higher-end ones.

Sign them, date them and number them on the bottom with metallic pen. Retail in the $69-$99 range.
