I was breezing through the United mini catalog with the red cover (the 95th anniversary one) and saw that they now have a mitre sander by Superior for like $260, as well as the ITWAMP one (I think) for $550. What is this cheaper machine, is it any good. I've used the AMP one and it is fantastic. How good can one that's half the price be? And I have searched the archives for mitre sander threads and saw nothing of this Superior one. Anyone have an idea?

It just showed up in the latest flyer. Looks like either a knock-off or a "store" branding by United. We probably won't know until someone buys one or Peter pipes in ...?

Cheap as a word has much to say that is not necessarily true. Inexpensive is the word I prefer to describe something of similar value for less money. The mitre sander we are selling serves the same purpose as the more expensive model. This new sander is a less expensive alternative. The cost of the more expensive model sander has reached a point where a large number of framers can not afford it. Though the new sander may not be a manufactured to the same tolerances as the other, but it will do the job it is designed for.
