Adagio Custom Picture Framing
Hi all, I use a CS299MXL2 underpinner and the ol girl is wearing down a bit. For the life of me I cannot find parts for this machine! Looking to find where I can get a short wedge hammer blade and possibly a wedge distributor block. E-bay has been nada and there was a place in the UK that wants to charge a kings ransom. I am based in Northern California. Any help would be much appreciated!

At the end of the day Cassese underpinners produce better/tighter joints than any other brand on the market but this quality comes at a cost, you get what you pay for.

(Thanks Ylva for the comments they are very much appreciated)

I've got a 299MXL2 and am now looking at replacing it with an AMP U400.
Is Cassese really THAT much better that they're the best...?
I've been framing for 56 years now (still framing, worked today) and I have used the ITW AMP, Alfa Mitre Mite, etc. pneumatic vnailers for years and now for years we have 2 Cassese 299XL pneumatic units.
We also have a MItre Mite that is an emergency spare but haven't had to use it.

I really like the Cassese but because the company is closed you have to be mechanically inclined and Mark at Underpinner Spares has been a great help with parts.
I know they have the hammers, I've gotten them from that company.
We bought a used 299 for $300 in great condition locally a couple of years ago and it came with 3 extra hammers.
Didn't have to ship it, we picked it up.

It's a little like Ford versus Chevy but I like the Cassese.
Also we have gotten cases and cases of Cassese original vnail cartridges from a local moulding supplier in all of the sizes and for hardwood and soft.
We may never have to order any vnails....

Yes the quality of the finished frames are far better on Cassese underpinners due to the better design of the clamping system (which is far superior to the Alfamacchine brand who use a much more rudimentary design)

Keep your Cassese running smoothly as long as you can then hope that in the future Alfa improve the design of upcoming models.

I ordered the cartridges from your site for my Cassese 299MXL. With uni wedges, it didn't work in my machine. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

What brand of wedges are you fitting to the chutes, 10.3mm wide UNI or the 11mm AL?

Ensure the top of the wedge distributor block is level with the bed of the table (as they do drop over time) and the elastic cord for feeding the wedge into the block has enough tension.

Could you private message me your order details / number so I can see which items were ordered and if the problem persists I will issue you a refund for the cartridge.
