Sorry to ask, but a friend of my wife is trying to determine street value for a Kinkade ... I can hear the groans now!!!!

The gory details: Framed Christmas Cottage VIII, 25.1/2 x 34, Gallery Proof on canvas 224/490.

The friend's son acquired it when purchasing a storage unit full of stuff. He has it listed on eBay for $1,000. He was surprised to find a lack of interest at this price!!!!

So what do ya reckon?

Any guesses as to market value?

Less than what he paid for it, that's for sure.

Before Christmas last year we had someone come in and reframe 6 of Tommy's pieces that they had purchased at an estate sale. If I recall correctly they had gotten a valuation by contacting his website directly. That allowed them to insure the pieces "accurately". There wasn't one with a value under $3k:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

On ebay, have him try $100 and see what happens.

I had a customer recently asking for a value on one that was $1,500 when his mother bought it. I told him to check EBay to get an accurate value and he told me they were selling for about $70 but wondered the real value. I told him $70 sounded high but if people were paying that then that would be an accurate amount. He said there were currently 6 of them at $50 for the same item so I guess I was right about the $70 being high.

I love that line. They are selling for $70 but what's it really worth? LMAO.

That's the problem with this site: onehas to apologize to ask a question. It's a closed club but yours is a legitimate question. I sell a lot on eBay and sometimes if I have a problem with pricing an item I start it at $-.25 (that's right, twenty five cents) no reserve and then I advertise the heck out of it. I find that there are a lot of people who actually want to see what is availble for twenty five cents and then they start bidding, get caught up in the frenzy and next thing you know you probably get as much as you possibly can for the item because you got the greatest possible exposure.

Take it for what it's worth, It is a good good question everyone else can just cram it!

Relax, Carl, Andrew was just expressing some humor. This is the most open and fun site that I know of. An occasional Grump doesn't make it a "closed club".

OK..I'll admit it..we have about 6 or 7 TK limited editions in the gallery ( don't ask how )....they are being featured at 50% off and so far no takers..which is not surprising. Customers are getting wiser.

guess e-bay is my next venue to liquidate these.

OMG!!! I saw that listing and was giggling and saying 'good luck' to that person....LOL!

I still haven't had the 'pleasure' of seeing a TK coming in to be framed....I wanna be part of the closed club too!!!

I re-framed one a couple months ago. The frame which was on it was warped beyond repair, and it was no small frame... they must have had it sitting outside or in a non climate controlled building.

They said i had to becareful with it because it was worth a lot and 20 years old. I just kept my mouth shut and re-framed it nicely.

Tk

In business to make money, please send me all your TK business. Recently sold a 24x36 framed, double mats, 599$. Print cost 115$. Material cost approx 70$....30 min start to finish....sweet, easy, work........love it.....Thank you TK.....by the way, I just got bankrupt info, Tk can't pay off the old Media Art folks.....so the old whipping Boy may be a thing of the past pretty soon...........

The TK bankruptcy goes back to last summer. Park West Gallery was trying to dump all of their inventory for $100 per print. They had very little if any success. Check EBay for best pricing on his prints.
