Four years ago I replaced my old AMP VN2+1 with a new U-300. I like it a lot. Lately I notice that when the pedal is pressed halfway to engage the clamps but not yet fire the v-nail, I hear an air leak coming from inside the machine. Everything works fine, but this wastes compressed air, causing the compressor to kick on more often. Anyone have any suggestions as to where in the system I should check for a leak at this phase of the operating cycle?

It would be helpful if you could find where exactly the air is escaping from before I could give an opinion, clearly it’s somewhere on the clamping circuit that is causing the issue due to the half press of the foot pedal.
Spray some penetrating oil or soapy water around the pneumatic circuit the air bubbles would then indicate the air escape point as it may (if you’re lucky) just be a poor push fit pipe connector that is the issue.

Thank you. I will try to trace the source of the leak. There may be a diagram in the owner's manual showing which is the clamping circuit. I'll report back.

I think that may have been it. I tightened all the tubes in all the connectors that looked like they had anything to do with clamping, and that seems to have helped. I haven't been hearing any air escaping when the pedal is halfway pressed.
Thanks!
