Ok so there seem to be a bunch of Green Bay Packers player photos on canvas 16x20 and 24x36 hitting the market. They come pre-stretched (gallery wrap) Anyone know the source? I have someone interested in a bunch of them.
Thanks

No, but feel free to join the free for all on Warped about this weekend's game.
Packers vs. Bears

Did you check with the official Packers sources? I know they are very protective of the images that can be sold. I knew a photographer who wanted to sell some images he had taken and he had to get permission first. Most sports teams have the same policies.

I have a lead for you! Call it coincidence or serendipity, I had some one bring one of these in this afternoon. He wanted to know how protect it from damage. I suggested framing with glass or plexi would be the best protection but he has to think about that.

Anyway, he said he got it from a guy from Tomah who is making the rounds to bars and such selling them. Said this guy goes to all the games and then makes these prints to sell. Unfortunately he didn't have anymore details than that but it's a start.

Anne, was it tagged with the official NFL licensing logo. I see these types of things pop up for events but most are not licensed products.

No, that's the problem. It has no identification at all on it. No signature, no card or sticker, nothing to indicate the maker. The detail is really good and who ever it is, has permission to stand on the sidelines and photograph. It's really a very well done photo and print.

I have yet to see one of these in person but heard they are nice if you are into sports stuff. Scheels sporting sells them and I have heard of 3 guys "on the road" selling them. Usually with the photos there is an NFL license sticker so I was thinking the canvas might have something on the back, but it sounds like nothing there. It does sound like it originated from an authorized photographer on the sidelines.

If you hear back from him see if you can get the name of the photographer!
Thanks!

I asked and he didn't know but he may have a record of it. I told him I knew someone who was looking for these so hopefully he will check for me. He said he wrote the name on the check he paid for them with.

He's suppose to come back this afternoon to pick it up. I put a wire on the back for him.

24 below in town probably a little colder at home in the country.

I couldnt resist and had to do the old throw a couple cups of boiling water up in the air. Such morning entertainment :)

Ok, this whole mystery gets weirder and weirder. He came in this afternoon and picked up his print. He was happy with the wire and still thinking about the framing.

Still no name but he said while he was out on a call for work (he's a mechanic), the guy with the prints stopped again and his boss bought one with Bart Starr and some other Packer's legends on it.

He said the guy selling them was on his way back from Green Bay. I know they had a big rally up there to send the team off today. He also seems to know many of the players personally.

One name that did come to mind was Biever. Jim Biever and his brother are official Packers photographers, as was their dad who recently passed away. It would explain how he would have so much access to the team and to the historic photos.

Well I will keep looking. It seems like it really shouldnt be this hard to find the supplier. Thanks for your help.

Ok, it gets weirder. I have a name for the photographer of the print I put a wire on. It's Mark Hoffman. Where it gets weirder, is I got the name when I spotted the same photo in this Sunday's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in the special section on the Packers this week.

Mark Hoffman is listed as a Journal Sentinel photographer. The contact info I could find for him was all through them. That doesn't mean he lives in Milwaukee though. He could live anywhere in the state and still work for them, which means Tomah is still a possibility.
