Another gallery here in Worcester, MA (D'Zian Gallery) has an exclusive for either the state or New England. So, I don't carry him.
Dave says Mr. Arvid is his biggest seller, but, from converstations, I'd guess he does most of his selling at "events" which he promotes heavily (read with $$$).
Generally my question is whether it's worth carrying his works. We've been offered the option of selling them in our area. We've been successful selling a local artist's oil-embellished giclees which are on consignment, and there's another gallery maybe 12 miles away that sells Arvid too. We're located in a strip shopping center, not a high-traffic mall or anything.
So I'm wondering if it's worth the investment to start carrying them - and if people seek out his artwork on their own, and whatnot, or if they rarely sell. It looks like I'd need to spend $2k just to get a few in, and also there's a lot of them on a certain popular auction website for what I assume is lower than retail. And the retail prices are pretty high for a print on canvas, which we sell few prints on canvas, mostly collectible and decorative oils, and a certain limited-edition print artist.
As I said, the gallery here in the city does well with him.
But, they spend heavily on promotions.
A recent show (Arvid attended for signing) grossed over 40k, but after factoring promotion and all the other expenses relative to the event (food, music, etc.) the net (according to a casual conversation) was "not nearly what you'd expect" and "not enough to cover the gallery" for a month.
Not sure how that helps you? He is a popular artist with a grwing name.
