Question Wholesale canvas supplier?

I'm new to the Grumble, and am excited to see all of the great resources available.

I'm wondering if anyone out there knows of a good wholesale supplier for primed artist canvas. I know that there are tons of websites that claim to be wholesalers, but it seems as if anyone can buy from them which leads me to believe that there are better prices to be had.

I recently built my own canvas stretcher (didn't have the cash for a Tensador) and might be able to move some pre-stretched canvas to local artists and students, but I need to find a good price on materials first...

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know about the canvas supplier. Tara seems fine.
But let me welcome you to the Grumble anyway. Lots of fine folk here to help in whatever.

Welcome Rob! I see we're in the same state. :smiley:

We've bought primed canvas and muslin from Chicago Canvas to use paint as backgrounds for our photo studio. They sell it in any rolls of different sizes. And Chicago is close enough that if you don't want to have it shipped, you can drive down and pick it up.

However if you are experimenting with the stretched canvas market I think it'll make more sense to buy prestretched canvas from them. There is only a minimum of 6 of most sizes and styles and it would be hard to stretch them yourself at the prices you can buy them prestretched for.
