Art Handling
I have been making hand made frame for over two years now. Obviously this is a little bit different than what most people do here. But I'm looking to further my education. I was an art handler for two years so I understand there are intricacies. I feel like getting a job at a framing shop would be amazing experience. But that's not in the cards for me right now. So pretty much I'm curious about books and online classes. A quick search gives me options but I'm reaching to get an idea of the industry standard. Open to in person classes, certificates and expos in the future. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also not sure if this is useful information but I'm based in Philly. Thank you!

Some useful books are sold through the PFM site: https://pfmpubco.square.site/
There are good books available here too: https://www.ppfa.com/ Professional Picture Framers Association
This expo could be of interest but it looks like it takes place in January each year(?): https://www.wcafexpo.com/ HOME | WCAF Expo
If you are interested in information at the museum level this book has many wonderful articles: https://archetype.co.uk/our-titles/art-on-paper/?id=264 Our Titles > Art On Paper
It looks like there are some useful videos on youtube, search through these?: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=CONSERVATION+FRAMING
You might see if the Philadelphia Museum of Art needs any volunteers. That might give you some opportunity to find information. There is a job for a conservation frame technician available now at PMA if that interests you.

As far as I know, there are no online classes. I am not sure what you want to learn, but I would start with Jim Miller's books for mounting.
WCAF was not on this year.
FrameCon was last year, but it might not happen this year.

Read as much as you can, either here, or buy some of the books at PPFA

Ask questions! Lots of members here who have been doing this for a long time and give solid advice.

Be careful what you watch on Youtube framing videos. Some may be helpful, but there is plenty of bad advice out there too.

Yes. I have a book, "The Framers Answer Book" by Paul Frederick (erstwhile Father of the G). There are many
sage sayings in it, my favourite being "There is nothing more frightening than ignorance in action".

I wonder how many folks have mounted prints with spray glue and wondered why they have bumps soon after. 😕

I have that book too.
"I wonder how many folks have mounted prints with spray glue and wondered why they have bumps soon after."
Do you mean bumps in the print, or on the person doing the spraying?
