I have a Valentines candy box (the cardboard thing shaped like a heart). It doesn't necessarily have to be framed 100% archivally, but I thought if there was a way to do it, I'd do it. Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking of using mylar strips that pass through the mat, but I can't get them to hold the box in place. What am I missing?

Rather than using strips of melinex, could you do something similar to what Jim Miller does for holding medals in place? i.e. Cut a piece of melinex in the shape of the valentine box, including narrow 'legs' which stick out around the outside of the valentine shape. Remove the lid of the box, place the valentine-shaped piece of melinex over the bottom part of the box, pass through the 'legs' through slits in the matboard and attach to the back of the mat and then finally replace the lid of the box. I'm assuming the lid fits fairly snugly, so it wouldn't fall off. If the lid doesn't fit snugly, then just place the valentine-shaped piece of melinex over the box with the lid already on it and pass through the legs, etc. ...
