Maybe some of you can help me. I am trying to locate a spray I used to clean grime and fingerprints off of mats. It was an spray that dried to a white powder that you could brush off the mat. It was a blue can with a white brush attached to the lid. I think it was called K7 or something like that. Thanks for any help you can give me!

K2r

I had to order it online but their website shows stores that carry it in stock. Ace & True Value hardware stores carry it but check with you independent store to see if they have it in stock. It is very expensive to buy one can online but a 6 pack was about the cost of 2 individual cans. I think I got free shipping with the 6 pack since it met a minimum dollar amount.

I use the air nozzle on the compressor to dry and remove it so I don't get any scuffing from the brush on the mat.

Scuffs need to be raised with moisture. Use distilled water and as little as possible. Often times a single scuff line can be done by moistening a finger tip and swipe it along the scuff line. Let it dry fully without doing anything to it.

I used to use some great stuff called 'Artclean'. It worked like a dream. Dab it on with some cotton wool and Wow! The Stain Is Gone. Unfortunately it fell foul of EEC safety regs and was withdrawn from the market. But I think it was some Carbon Tetrachoride- based concoction. I used the last drop quite recently and I have been meaning to get a tin of lighter fluid to see if that does the same job.

I wouldn't recommend lighter fluid on a paper product. It would probably leave a slightly oily residue. It is a great general solvent for getting sticky or inky marks off of hard surfaces, though. It also works well to clean mat cutters and other equipment.

Probably K2R is your best chance. Take a piece of kraft paper and cut a hole in the center to expose stained area. That way the spray does not get all over he mat. Shake really well, hold at a distance and spray a few times into the air to clean the nozzle b4 spraying directly on the stain. And remember to wait until it is thoroughly dry: till it forms a dry white powder.
