I know years ago someone mentioned a free program for designing with tiles and now I cannot find it in here anywhere. :icon20:

I found a seemingly perfect free download called TileGem but Avast! says it contains malware.

Anyone remember what it was?

I have a project to redo my shower room floor and I have 1 3/8" and 3" tiles which I figure would be fun to do more than just a border.

Thanks!!!

I suppose cutting out tiny tiles out of scrap matboard and moving them around wouldn't do it? hehehe

I have 42 square feet to work with. 2730+ small tiles or 160 large tiles and 2090+ small tiles.

Even trying to play with graph paper is daunting - not gonna be cutting out matboard, LOL.

Okey dokey, if I use the 3" tiles in a border, that leaves me with 60 extras to place into some pattern within the smaller tiles.

Oy......

Good idea - if I had a CMC.

would wizard give you a copy of wizard free demo mat designer software if you asked nicely?

and by the way, smart idea using it to design tile layouts. I wish I had thought of that when I tiled the entire ground floor of our old house..... you, sir, deserve one of those medals the size of a frying pan for that idea :)

I have a tiler who is outstanding..

His eye for detail is fantastic...

Unfortunately I don't know of a way that you could up load him :-)

On a serious note I have used him about 15 times over the last 19 years...his work is outstanding and add to that he is a very nice guy....

I have done a lot of tile work - this will be the largest area ever, though, and laying that many small tiles one by one (no longer bonded onto foot-square mesh) just sounds like so boring. Which is why I thought if I could find some additional tiles in this rare thickness and dimension, I could make the floor a wee bit more interesting. At my age it is certainly not a job I will be repeating.

In fact, once I do get the tile down, I am thinking of hiring someone to do the grout. I am lousy at grout, and this will be quickset which is worse than acrylic.

(This reminds my of a project my father did in the basement of our house. He was a carpenter, and he collected various 12x12 left over floor tiles from the suppliers. He graphed the whole design 16' x 30' floor on 1/4" graph paper.

When finished, it was a wonderful to behold, even if the center "B" (last name initial) was 1 section/row off - so it wasn't aligned in the basement stairwell. He always commented "one square off to the left...just like me!")

please show us your project when completed!
