We just carefully moved our underpinned to our new building and when I fired it up, I notice there is air leaking from one of those cone filter things underneath toward the front of the machine. I'm guessing they're filters and air is supposed to go through them, but I could be completely wrong. Anyhow, there is a constant leak from that spot as soon as the air compressor is hooked up and is under pressure. We never had this problem before the move, but I can't figure out what is causing this and how to fix the problem. Any advice?

An update: air still leaks. I noticed when the foot pedal is pressed and the handle that drives the v-nail is push in, the leak stops. But I'm still scratching my head with this one. The air is leaking from the filter thingy on the left in the attached photo. image.jpg

Did you spritz everything with soapy water to see where the air is coming out? It's what tire shops do to find leaks....

Once you know you can set up a remediation plan, ie replace the hose or a metal piece from jostling during the move. My money might be on a hose going into the filter. Could be as simple as a new hose or teflon tape on the threads.

I am not familiar with that underpinner but, some air operated machinery have pressure safety valves, if the pressure from the compressor is higher than what the safety valve is set at it will continually vent air.

The air is only coming from that cone looking piece in the picture that I attached-- there are no other leaks. I'm going to check the settings on the compressor tomorrow AM and see if that makes a difference-- I think it is set about 10-15 PSI higher. I will be thrilled if it's something that simple.
