As you may have seen I recently got a Hoffmann Dovetail Router. It was suggested that I use a rolling tool chest for a base. I thought this was a great suggestion and I purchased a 4 drawer rolling tool chest.

My question is how do you organize your tools? I am not talking about fitting tools, these are back room tools that include everything from wrenches, pliers, hammers, drill bits, spring clamps etc..................

I am hoping to put things away properly once and then label the tools and drawers so there might be a chance of them returning home when I am done using them. I don't want 4 more miscellaneous hand tool drawers.

Thanks

How about lining the drawers with bar mat or the mat they make for tool chests.

Mark the outline of the tool on the mat, that way you'll know exactly what is missing.

Label the drawers: wrenches, drivers,pliers
hammers, nail sets, drill bits
clamps
misc

or however you want.

However you decide to organize it, label the drawers.

Use a Dymo or print out some stuff on address labels.

Since it doesn't involve a shopping trip, how about lining the drawers with flawboard or leftovers, and marking the outline on the board.
