I would use the acrylic because there are no suppliers of either museum glass or acrylic here, so I have to ship it in. I also understand the care needed to prepare the glass for fitting. Do the same woes exist with museum acrylic? What size is the shadowbox? You might be able to use Museum Glass.
It should be a good option, both MG as the Museum acrylic, but I would question where it is hanging. No matter what kind of glazing, there will always be some reflection. Better than the regular acrylic, for sure, but it won't eliminate all reflection.
Good luck fitting MG on black suede. A framer's nightmare![]()
Ugh, I have plenty of trouble with these as it is using Optix Framing Grade, and quite a bit less with Acrylite Framing Grade. Mostly this is because of handling by my supplier as Optix film is not very durable, but there are also plenty of factory flaws in the Optix. If it is about black suede and MG/acrylic, yes, same woes.
I actually charge extra for black suede and MG as I know it takes a lot more time to fit it right.
Is that because of chasing flumb, or because of the technical aspects of handling the Museum Acrylic surfaces? If it is about black suede and MG/acrylic, yes, same woes.
