I'm looking to create an initial inventory of Mat Boards. My searches, so far, have proven less than satisfactory from a price point. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Grumble Shooter!

There are many suppliers out there in almost every region of the US. Outside the US, could be different depending on where you are in the world. One good one sponsors this forum. Grumblers might be able to assist you better if we knew who you were, where you were, and perhaps a little more about your business. Little things like shipping can kill what might otherwise be a great deal from any particular supplier.

Tell us a little more so we can give you some good direction.

Thanks for the kind words and good advice.
I am Clem Webb, a photographer/artist. I live on the Gulf Coast of Texas at the Louisiana border - Beaumont, to be exact. (Home to hurricane Rita.)
I travel with missionaries, documenting their activities to improve fund-raising efforts, with the stipulation that time during the trip be devoted to my art. Most recently, I traveled to Nepal, and next week I go to Guyana, South America. clemwebb.com will give you access.
I make a variety of print sizes, matted from 8x10 to 32x40. I'm looking into a Wizard, but it will all be for naught if I have to pay what I've seen on the 'net for mat board.
Thanks again.

Hey, Clem ...Welcome to the GRUMBLE! I surely was making jest at your expense and didn't mean any offense.

:D

Hope you enjoy your travels here and come back often.

Mat boards come in 3 general grades - regular (cream/white core)(wood pulp) - Alpha cellulose - 100% cotton. The cost raises as does the quality. In addition the amount of what you buy (singly or annually) will control the price you pay.

I am assuming that you have contacted commercial distributors of framing materials.

Can you tell us what you are expecting to pay(for a specific grade) and in what quanity?

My preference is the 100% rag board, but I'll settle for acid-free 32x40. My current supplier charges me $7.50 after marking it up. Online all I've found is about $10.00 per board, or more.
The quantity is an unknown at this time, but I'm guessing 30-50 boards per month, until I can get work other than my own stuff.
Thanks.
