I tried to call Historic Mapworks. The phone lines don't go through. Do you think that it is inclement weather in Maine or possibly something else?
Thanks Northern Grumblers,
Susan

They have been moving to a 100% internet based system - you can't find a phone number on their site anywhere. I tried the old phone number I have for them also and it's been disconnected.....But I'm sure they're there...... shoot 'em an e-mail.........

Usually they are good about communicating changes... At least I know that it isn't just a frozen wire somewhere in between Maine and PA.
Thanks Finest Fabric.

I just got an email back. They are still there, but everything is done online, including wholesale orders. No telephone.

I took a look at their site and from the little bit I saw, these are all images from the Library of Congress website. What this means is that you can download them and print them off yourself. I didn't look at what their prices were and have no idea of what they wholesale them at, but just wanted to give you the information of where they originate.

I've worked with HMW for a while now - and while some of their material does originate from the Library of Congress, it is a comparatively small amount - much of what they have is direct scanned from material that they own, numerous state and county atlases in particular. They have also scanned maps from other collections, such as the Osher Map Library. The LOC does not have much of this material - in fact contrary to popular belief the LOC does not have 'everything' - far from it......

Thanks Dave. I don't do printing. These guys will print to any size in a fine art giclee print. Maybe some of the images are the same but in the past (when you could call) the customer service was amazing. Your prints arrive in a day or two and if you need help they really go out of their way. I hope that things are still the same. I have enjoyed dealing with them.
