Framing 60 x 45" canvas, using decor 8682. Canvas is stretched on standard bars about 3/4" thick.
It is slightly out of square.
What reveal do you like? Tight to frame, 1/4", 3/8", 1/2"
and why....
Thanks

If it is slightly out of square I would put 1/2 with this size of a painting.

I am going to go with that.
thanks

I've taught classes and written articles about the depth from face and float space. Generally speaking a tradition oil or acrylic painting should be 1/8" float space with 1/8" recess from the float face. Unlike an oil, encaustic paintings--also originals--may be set at any float space and any depth from the face. Remember that the float frame must be taller than any part of the painting so if it were laid face down it would never touch the counter.

That said...a digital canvas is just a fancy reproduction so I suppose you are free to do whatever you wish.
I have articles listed on my website of you'd like additional information.

Why would they be treated any differently?

1/4 to 1/2 depending on some of the factors mentioned. 1/8 only on small things where 1/4 is to much. LOL
