We have a Wizrd 8000 and I was wondering if anyone cuts foamcore on their cmc? If so, how do you set the machine up, blade depth, slip sheets, etc.? Peace, Mike

For certain applications I cut 1/8" foam on an 8000.

Single slip sheet

Blade at 24+

Same for me
8000
24+,-
1/8" with 1 slip sheet
only when I need several of the same size or ovals, etc.
I also cut strips sometimes to line shadowbox sides with the cmc

My CMC has a cutting head for 90-degree cuts of foam center board up to 1/4" thick, and one for beveled cuts, too. Both of them work quite well.

The Wizard 5000, 8000 & the 8500 will cut up to the 1/8 foam core.
The Wizard 8500 has the 90 degree cutting feature..

Randy,
can you elaborate on cutting strips for shadowboxes on the 8000?
I've been cutting them on my wall-mount cutter with makeshift stops. In the past, I used a tabletop hand mat cutter for this and it worked fine, but I don't have one these days, so I'm using the wall-mount cutter. It's not entirely accurate, so I sometimes end up cutting more strips than I need until I get four that are exactly the same. If I can get my 8000 to do it, that'd be great. BTW, I have a friend still using a 5000, so if it can be done on that as well, let me know. Thanks!

I just set the size I need just like cutting a mat without an opening
just thin strips just like you normally cut by hand only with beveled edges
you can cut them exact length or long and trim to final length by hand
the 45deg bevel isn't really a problem, it actually helps to get a tight fit to the glass.
Then I cut my mat strips the same way only 1/16" wider to glue over foam spacer
just make sure the bevel is the right direction in relation to the face of the mat
again the 45 deg edges help get tight crisp corners and tighten up nicely against the backer mat
