Question Art Appraiser

Hi Keith - I don't know of any specifically but there should be a number of qualified appraisers in the Lambertville/New Hope area as well as Philadelphia.

As a courtesy to customers I usually consult an auction records website such as www.artprice.com or (if an American artist) www.askart.com. There you will 1) see if the artist in question is "listed", 2) if listed find past auction records and values and 3) possibly find dealers in that particular artist. This can often determine whether or not it pays to take the next step and pay for a professional appraisal.

BTW - this is what "professional appraisers" do anyway --

Don't personally know of any in that area, but a quick search came up with this . I would guess that a little research into these businesses would turn up an acceptable option.

Keith,
They could also contact Freemans Auctions and Gallery in Phila. They're located on Chestnut St. 215-563-9275. They offer free appraisals a few times a year, in fact, one of the experts on Antique Road Show (the guy with a British accent) works for them.

Keith. I think Mike Heberlein may do appraisals. He's at Lancaster Galleries, 34 NORTH WATER STREET · LANCASTER PA 17603 · PH (800) 688-5572
