Customer wants a new piece of acrylic for his outside display. It is a RE office and they have a bulletin board by the street. I have to measure tomorrow but my guess is 38" x 52". Current sheet is faded. What do you suggest?
Thickness and grade/type
thanks

Contact your local sign supply distributor. They will be able to tell you best outdoor stock but simply tell the customer that all outdoor displays are temporary due to exposure to the elements. In most cases they will want a product that lasts forever but are not willing to pay the price. Usually it is less expensive to change out the less expensive item 10 times than it is to buy the right product in the first place.

UV / plastics

As Jeff points out, out door conditions are quite challenging for plastics. The client may do better with a sheet of Dibond, Aluma-Lite, or Pro-Lite which are engineered for exterior use.

I was thinking Lexan, but as Jeff said ask a signage company.

Just a regular cheapy acrylic sheet will last them a few years, so they can
easily swap it out every 3rd or 4th for little more than pocket change.

Or they can go with some more expensive.... and swap it out again
when the graffiti hits it.... or about 4th or 5th year.

Then there is always Optium.... (which if you are typing fast
becomes Opium..... both are addicting....)

I've been thinking about this.... I would put two pieces in.
1/8" or 3/16 Polycarbonate, with a face sheet of 1mil
polystyrene. (as cheap as it gets and refresh as needed).
