After 35+ years in the industry, just now joining The Grumble. Why now and not before? Well, I learned a long time ago that people can say or write anything they want to... fact or fiction. To me honesty and genuineness is everything. So I have a love/hate relationship with most social media. It's great... but it's not. But I'm ever-curious. We'll see. Be good! Do good!
Framer since: 1977
Retail framing employee: 12 years total.
Includes framing for several frame shops in the Nashville, TN area as well as assisting in the start-up and acting as the general manager of wholesale supplier A-Frames, a subsidiary of Ambiance Gallery Nashville, TN owned by the late William Parker.
January 1989: Left to pursue being an entrepreneur in this industry.
Entrepreneur since: July,1989
Opened South Star Moulding & Supply with assistance of a business partner.
2001: Bought out partner, became a sole owner.
2001-2022: with the assistance of many, especially my wife, Laura, rode the waves of business ownership; some downs (9/11, recessions, loss of friends, employees, customers, associates to father time) but many, many ups! (meeting/making new friends, new customers and celebrating 35 years successfully 'in the business').
Jan 1, 2023: sold a majority interest in South Star to a group headed by my best customer and great friend for many years, Anne.
Now, mostly a project-based, part owner and consultant to South Star. Having the best time ever in this industry! Enjoying some 'WE TIME' with my wife, my friends and especially my family (daughter and grandsons). Currently enjoy time with friends, travel with Laura, golf, pickleball and Essie (Esperanza, see avatar), my mini-Aussie and much, much more!
