How do you guys cut these stripes on the mat:

How do you make the strips. I am assuming it is some sort of v-groves put together real closely, right?

can anyone forward me a a sample file?

Hmmn, this could be done several ways. You could probably put several V-Grooves together (blue core white mat) by drawing a straight line in PathTrace, then offset it by the distance you want between the V-Grooves. Then, trace the lines as V-Grooves.

Or, you could cut out the white stripes and place them on a blue mat. Design the desired rectangles in MatDesigner and cut.

Perhaps they are simply blue lines printed on white matboard?

Depending on what you want the end product to look like it, I’m sure there are a number of ways you could design this.

Small picture but looking at the bevel below the signature I would say these are not v-grooves.

This could be one of those mats that's just faster and easier to do with a manual mat cutter. Just cut strips with a bevel on both sides, line them up and attach to a backing board.

Alternate black and white strips then turn 90 degrees and cut strips again to make chequered flag mats for race car stuff.

I did a nice one using a thick blue INK pen from an office suply story and VERY carefully spaced out lines with a ruler.

The piece was oversized and looks great. I did it 6 years ago and it looks as good today as it did when it was completed.

The biggest tip is to keep the pen moving slowly and at the same speed. That way the ink absorbs at the same rate without any globs or uneveness.

The fast way of making blue stripes on a white mat is to use the Wizard and Crescent's BR14987.

Create a cut art file consisting of just vertically parallel V-grooves (see how below). Then open a mat in Wizard of the desired external dimension, and add the V-groove WCA file. Copy and paste as many occurrences of the WCA file as you need to fill the mat. Select all. Horizontally space all to the desired distance. Align all. Add any other openings that you want. Cut.

The whole thing is done in a flash! I worked up a dummy in WAY less time than it took to write this note.

To create the vertical V-groove WCA file just open a 32x40 mat. Add a rectangle, say 29.1/2x2, or whatever size floats your boat. Open PathTrace. Explode the circuit and delete the bits you don't need. Set bevels to V-groove and save. Bingo!
