Hello everyone!

Hope everyone is safe from the Corona virus. 🤐

My name is Wilda from Montréal, Québec in Canada. I am the customer support specialist for Lumigraf (click on Lumigraf to go on the website) a Montreal-based company that has been in the decorative resin panel business for over 22 years. Since it's creation, Lumigraf has collaborated with some of the world's top architects and designers. The company has positioned itself as one of the world's top purveyors of architectural resin panels, often for major casinos, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, and other commercial projects.

We are currently working on developing a prototype that could be suitable for all. By making this new line of consumer-driven product it will be easier to transport, maintain and install. With over 1000 existing patterns available as well as personalized custom imaging in option (you only have to supply the graphic file), we hope our designed panels will reach a larger audience, hungry for new and innovative coverings.

Therefore, I would like to have suggestions from you Grumble members !!!

Thank you

Wilda

Hi, Wilda. Welcome to the Grumble. :)

A few questions that come to mind:

Would you only be selling the panels wholesale to retail framers, and not to the general public?
Would they be sent in sections, or as finished frames in custom sizes (i.e. 15 3/8 x 27 1/4")?
Would samples be shaped like traditional framing chevrons?
How are shipping rates between Canada and the US?
Are your colors, patterns consistent and color fast? (I'm guessing that's a yes, but asking.)
That's what comes to mind for now. Wishing you a good day.

Hi Shayla,

Thank you for the warm welcoming and hopefully, everything is well with you.

I've realized that I did'int made myself clear in my post (proof of human, lol).

We most likely provide lamination service on exclusive Mother-of-Pearl effect substrate - low-gloss (satin finish) - available with all our current patterns or personalized custom imaging.

Mother-of-pearl has fascinated spirits since as far back as prehistoric times when it was used to adorn ceremonial garments.
During the Roman Empire, they were commonly called the tears of Aphrodite, wealthy families procured for their daughter one or two pearls each year, so they have a complete necklace to their majority.
Nowadays, the mother of pearl is omnipresent in the manufacture of decorative objects, jewelry, glasses, and musical instruments.

Here some pictures: Custom Image_ with Mother-of-Pearl effect substrate_1 (1).jpg Custom Image_with Mother-of-Pearl effect substrate_2 (1).jpg Lumi-Onyx_Calabria_with Mother-of-Pearl effect substrate (1).jpg Honey Pearl_with Mother-of-Pearl effect substrate (1).jpg

Answer to your questions

• Our panels would not only be offered wholesale to retail framers but also to the general public.

• As it is the “artworks” laminated on a Mother-of-Pearl substrate (not pre-framed) that we would offer, they would be sent as panels of any sizes you’d need. We may also offer a selection of pre-determined panel sizes.

• Shipping rates between Canada and the US: would vary depending on the order (panels’ sizes, quantities, etc…)

• Our colors and patterns are colorfast.

Hopefully, you have a better understanding of what we do.

If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

Cheers,

Wilda

As I suspected from the original post altho it is a really neat product, it's nothing a framer would have call for.
An Interior Designer might go nuts over it , tho.

Back when I used to work in the trade show exhibits building business, this is the stuff we were always looking for.

Bonjour, Wilda: do you have examples of your pieces used by framers? (Other than mounting a photo.)

I can’t see a panel being used as a mat. Are you doing anything with Montreal framers?

I bet if these were to be offered as self-adhesive strips, say starting in widths of 1/2" on up to maybe 3" wide by maybe 48" long, framers could mount them on flat areas of plain mouldings (like the old tortoise shell panels from a hundred years ago). Of course the adhesive would have to be very long-lasting, and it would be a bonus if the frames could customize (cut with mat cutter or straight edge) the strips to any width they needed.
