Worm in an email

Just found out that an email that was sent to me by someone who said they did not send the email must have had a worm in it. Spamed my entire mail list.......
If you got one from me just delete it and then empty your trash bin. Do not open it.......it was sent around 2:15PM to 2:20pm today

my e mail starts with cooks and ends in att.net

I'm afraid they probably harvested your contact list already, but if the messages are coming from your PC this should stop the offending background program.
