I'm in the process of taking my Wizard apart and replacing parts in the hope of fixing an it-won't-cut-and-it's-making-nasty-grunching-noises type problem. So far, I've replaced the drive box and the BIM card; will be installing new gantries Thursday. Has anyone else had their wizard to pieces? How much trouble am I in??? There is no service in my area - just me, my screwdriver and a very nice man named Carl on the phone from California.

I am in need of:
a. help
b. sympathy
c. a glass of red wine

Is there any service for other types of CNC machines? That should be the first port of call if you're not sure what to do next.
Good luck, I hope it doesn't change from a single glass to a whole crate!

Hi, Kit
I replaced my gantry about a year or so ago. You are not in any trouble. It seems like a terrifying project, but it is not. Takes about an hour or so.

Follow the instructions, one step at a time, and you will not have any problems. Remember, you can call tech. support at any point through the project.

Again, you are not in trouble, don't worry about it, and start with step one, continue through until you are done.

California? Wizard is based in Washington State outside Seattle.
I hope you are talking with the Tech Dept. as they are incredibly helpful. Our Computer Mat Cutter was mis-cutting, they sent replacement parts "NextDay Air" and we were up in operation within 36 hours from the time a problem was discovered. Replacing the parts was easy due to the easy to read instrux sent with the parts. Needless to say, we have become so accustomed to our CMC doing matting "the old fashioned way" really bites. All of us, including me, really missed the CMC while it was temporarily down.

Kit, I don't know from CMC's, but I reccomend a nice Villa Volpe Merlot. A bottle and a half should do nicely.

Don't worry, you'll get it going. With all these guys helping, and a good Merlot, you can't go wrong.

I'm not totally worthless. I can always be used as a bad example...

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement.

Greg - Washington, California. it's all the same time zone. I know that I'm geographically challenged. Imagine my surprise when I moved to Minnesota and there was the Mississippi River. I thought it was in Mississippi.

Lance - Nope, no service. Rochester is just a small town in the middle of a bunch of corn fields. Occasionally the president or the pope drops by.

John - You've made me feel much better. Wanna come give me a hand? Sounds like Charles is bringing the wine.

Kit, I would love to come and help, a few years ago when I was a bit of a rowdy, I'd probably be on my way to the airport now. But now I'm boring, can't drink or have fun with booze anymore. I've even become responsible. Just two of us run my shop, I have to call a travel agent and make plans just to use the bathroom.

Just remember, follow the directions they give you, one step at a time. It's a piece of cake, you'll breeze right through it.
Unless Charles shows up with all that wine and you put the wrong gantry back on the machine.

John
