I"m sure there's a book. Right this minute I don't know where it is. I have figured out how to draw a regular hexagon in VCAD, but not how to tell it I want one with 8" sides.

Also, when I send what I've drawn to Wizard it seems to be located way out of the normal cutting field. I understand that you're all busy too, but if there's a quick answer that a more experienced VCAD user knows I'd be abundantly grateful. (And so, I imagine, would the friendly neighbor framer that I agreed to cut it for.)

Thanks in advance.

How's it coming? I haven't used vcadd in a while & don't know what version you're on but here's a few things I can think of that I hope might help. If you are drawing from scratch you need to be sure to start your drawing near the edges so it will be in the "normal cutting field" but you should be able to save it as cut art, Then it wouldn't matter as you would import it like any other cut art design & reposition it or even change the size. Another option would be to start with a template shape like a rectangle in a size that fits what you need then save it to the cadd program & modify it to your hexagon. then it should still be where it was when you designed it in the first place. Or maybe you could just combine template designs into the shape you need & use the merge function on your cut screen? Hope something there helps a little.

Don't have cadd in front of me, so bear with me. After you select the Hexagon command, you can R-Click on your work area and select Number of Sides then select the number (of sides you want).

As for the size, I usually draw a box the size that I want the end project to be, then I can size the Polygon up/down within the box before I click that last click to commit.

And, as Terry stated, save it as a CutArt so you can resize it as desired when you place it in the work area.

The other option would be to select the Star template (menu 5 I believe). Under Properties, you can change the number of sides, the Spikiness, etc. to resemble an 8-sided Hexagon. Click on the [?] on the Properties screen next to the Templace number to see what the different fields will do.
