I need to cut a v-groove. Actually, it's a little more than that. It must be about 1/8" wide so the bottom mat shows through. But, each side must extend beyond the corner.

Can't figure out how to illustrate that. But, I can get there by placing four v-grooves and make them 1/8" high/wide and position them appropriately, but I thought there might be an easier way because the allignment point gets all futz'd up and I'm getting tired of trying to do the math!

Thanks,

P.S. I have the new 5.1 software and an 8000 machine.

Cliff;

If you mean something like this:

Try using 4 seperate openings that are an 1/8" wide (for the vertical lines) and 1/8" tall (for the horizontal lines). If this is on a single opening mat you can then set the left/right and top/bottom margins so that they are equal and everything should line up.

CAUTION when cutting this drop outs will be a problem if you don't use some re-positionable spray on your slip sheet.

Clearer than mud. I hope.

Jerry, Picture a cross in each corner, but the legs of the cross keep going until they meet. Oh, wait a minute, ... Imagine the pound sign # is bigger and rectangular and can fit a picture cut in the middle. Does that help?

I have seen the "open v-groove" feature, but couldn't get my "extended corners."

Thanks, Cliff

Mark, I tried to draw the same way, and it kept taking my spaces out too!!

Yeah, that's what I meant.

What you said is what I'm trying, but It's been a bear to get it lined up!

Wait a minute! you said openings, not v-grooves. OF COURSE that'll be much easier... uh duh!!!

Well - that little illustration didn't turn out so well. the spaces were removed that seperated and positioned the vertical lines.

Hopefully you get the idea.

After it's designed, you can hit the merge button on the cut screen and not have to worry about the drops.
