I'd like to know if anybody has this experience.
I have Wizard for a long time and I'm using it everyday and pretty happy with that.
I'm cutting simple mats, many openings, etc. - but nothing crazy.
All of a sudden I found that Wizard 9000 has many new options.
For a long time I was thinking to upgrade and now I'm asking you ...
Does anybody using Wizard 9000?
Have anybody upgraded Wizard5000 to version 9000?
How smooth is that ? I mean the upgrade.
Is it worth it ? Or it's just my midlife crises?

Thank you.

We upgraded and are very happy. There is a huge difference between the 5000 and the 9000. We use some of the features (but probably not enough of them... gotta work on that) The ones I really like are the 8-ply cutting, foamboard cutting, and some really sensible software upgrades.

Is it worth it? It is not as huge a technological jump as it was from straight line cutter to Wizard, but it is a pretty sweet machine.

My assumption (and we all know how those go) is that with a 5k you aren't selling many 8plys due to the pain in cutting them with a 5k. The abillity to sell and properly/quickly/perfectly cut 8ply alone would be enough to get me to upgrade. MHO

I upgraded from a 5000 to 8000 about a year ago. I don't regret the jump. First of all it was a better price, but I'm getting less corners. You might just do it to save your hearing if you have a 5000. That machine was too noisy. I got a great machine and it's easier to cut v-grooves. There was a slight learning curve so don't do this at the height of the holiday season. Wizard worked with me as far as when to ship and really they have the upgrade down to a science to be as painless as possible.

Yes
5000 to 8500 to 9000
seamless
YES
Not sure if it is a midlife crisis!~

I currently have an 8000, and I'd consider upgrading to a 9000 but there's a little problem of floor space. I've got the 8000 mounted near-vertical using Wizard's shelf kit. I only ever see the 9000 on its own stand in a more horizontal orientation. I simply don't have the floor space for that configuration...
