Anyone know how I can do a Wizard letter mat with smaller type than what comes packaged in their software.

All the standard fonts need to be 2.5".

Is there a true type font that'll work smaller? I was hoping for about 1" height.

Thanks.

Update:

When I called Wizard tech support some time ago they said that maybe some TrueType fonts may work smaller but they couldn't guarantee any other fonts than what they have built into the software.

I believe some will work smaller but don't know which ones and at what height. I've got a call into Gumby (Jim Cook) to see if he can help. He's a Wizard wizard and may know of some. I'll report here if he has some suggestions.

I've tried a number of fonts and never had success at less than about 2". Even then, some letters had trouble.

Unfortunately, the blade angle is a bit too much to make the turns,

My understanding was that Brian Wolf was trying to design a font that would cut at the absolute minimum size for the blade angle. I don't know where he is in that process though.

Each of the LetterMats have a minimum cutting height, which is displayed on the Properties Tab. The smallest font would be Scratch and Monster, which can cut at 1" tall.

If you purchased the Debossing Kit, you can also Deboss these fonts, as well as the TTFs. As stated, you can load TTFs to cut, but you would have to experiment.

Dani ...Scratch and Monster each come up in my software with a minimum 2". Are you saying they should cut fine at 1"?

Not my first choice for this project, but may need to use them.

What version are you running? I'm running 5.5 and it states 1" on mine. After changing to the font, did you click on KAR or make some other change to refresh that part of the screen?

I'm running 5.5.1A.

Not sure what you mean by KAR.

KAR = Keep Aspect Ratio.

On some versions of the software it was simply "KAR", on some versions it is spelled out "Keep Aspect Ratio".

Dani ...I did keep the aspect ratio constant, but this had no effect on what size it told me is the minimum size ...2" for Monster for instance.

I'll ring you up.

Dani was kind enough to call and we figured out my problem. Monster and Scratch will cut down to 1" but it wasn't showing me that because I didn't realize that when you change your font you must click keep aspect ratio or make some other change in order to refresh the screen that shows the minimum letter height.

Thanks, Dani ...appreciate your help!

In his class at WCAF, Brian said that many of the TrueType fonts will deboss down to 3/8". Of course, cutting is a different matter altogether. You might want to also ask Dave at FrameMakers- he's done some very interesting projects with lettering cuts.
