I just went to use my Wizard IF-V visualization system... and get nothing but black from the camera (Yes, the lens cap is off!). Do a little poking around, and the camera seems to have gone flaky. One powerup in ten I'll be able to use it, the rest - nada. Definitely not reliable enough for production work!

So I look up the supported camera list in the latest manual, and notice two things: (1) it's very short, and (2) ALL of the listed cameras are last year's models or older, which means I can't hop on down to Best Buy and pick up a replacement.

SO: has anybody successfully used Integrated Framer with a camera NOT on the "supported" list? More importantly, is it a camera I can pick up locally tomorrow before the shop opens?

none that I know of
The canon rebel is the only one I know of that you can buy locally... Kinda pricey but thanks to CANON they are not supporting any lower priced cameras for remote shooting....that sucks.

but if you go to ebay there are some s1, s3 that are going to end soon.
You could probably have them send it next day or second day have it by Monday or tuesday.

To tide you over you can always just take a picture and then download onto your computer and open it as a jpeg file.....into IF... I di dthat when my S1 went on blink untill it could get a replacement S3 I also Have a spare S5, and Canon sent me back my S1 So Now I have one working & two back ups .. I do use the S5 as my travel camera I like it...

PS by all means contact Canon you never know what they may offer you...

Is it a Canon S1 series??

I believe the S1 had a problem with their censor or something and were being replaced by Canon. Even after the expiration of the warranty.

Actually, yes: it's an S1 IS. I contacted Canon, and there is indeed a service advisory on this camera for the CCD sensor. They'll fix it free of charge.

Meanwhile, it turns out that my sous-chef's mother owns an S5 IS, which is supported. She's graciously willing to lend it to the shop until I can get a replacement.

I also found a S2 IS for $150 on eBay; when all the dust settles I'll have a working camera AND a backup

Don't buy another camera yet till you get your camera back from Canon: Many times they sent back a newer model (S2) to replace the S1-IS that was sent to them!

They sent us an S5 IS, when our S1 IS failed. It's coming on vacation with us in a week, too :)

These days, I think they're just replacing them with refurbished S1's.
