ok, well, this ought to teach me to try to do a rush job that is different on a day when the Wizard help desk is closed.......

It's not a difficult job but I can't for the life of me figure out how to make it do this.

Ihave an artist who needs 12 mats cut. The opening is 4 X 5.25

the matting is .375 - and yes, that is 3/8 ........ don't ask.........

AND the part that is driving me nuts is that the OUTSIDE of the mat needs to be bevelled - so there is a bevel on the inside opening AND the outside opening.

I've tried going into path trace and reversing the bevel but it won't work - it's adding extra cuts.

Is there some easy way to do this that I am just not seeing?

thanks!

There's probably other methods but a quick workaround ... use template 801 (open V-groove) ... set parameter for V-groove offset width to 3/8. Need to stop cut after cutting opening and first half of V-groove. It works ... just ran a test with your sizes.

I've been trying to do something like that - so did you make the whole matting bigger and then put the offset at 0 and the VG width at .375?

I'll try that - only thing is I don't have a lot of matting and was hoping to be able to tile cut them, but if I have to I'll substitute the colour.

thanks Andrew!

mat size bigger than you need
opening your required size
set OFFSET to 3/8

set up your job as a double mat. Set the inside mat per your mat opening specs. Set the second mat with a 3/4" larger opening (1/2 of 3/4 = 3/8). Set this second opening as a RB (reverse bevel). With a Wizard you need a 1 1/2" min mat measurement (that will be thrown out)

total mat = 7 3/4" x 9"

Or how about making the mat width 1.375 and trimming of one inch on your straight edge mat cutter bevel blade?

here's another way:

1. template 101, opening 4x5.25, borders 3/8
2. in pathtrace change external bevel to rb
3. save
4. in a new mat, insert wca file saved in step 3
5. copy and paste as many as you need, space apart
6. cut all in one step!

this method may enable you to get them out of the material you have on hand ... kind of diy tiling!

thanks guys! I got them using Andrew's first idea with a few adjustments and it worked out great!

I knew I could count on my fellow grumblers to give me a hand!!

now, to get the rest of this crazy job done........ artists!!!!

Just use template 101, opening 4x5.25, borders 3/8 then select RB go to the cut screen select the TILE TAB and enter 12 apply all then cut them all at once because you RB the inside the outside will be beveled on the front.

ok, the job is done, but Framer, that would give me a reverse bevel on the inside, right? I wanted to have a regular bevel on the inside.

This job is one that I'm glad to say is done. This artist guy... well, he's very eccentric and now he's going to school to get his fine arts and had all these little watercolours that he wanted to make a book out of from scratch. Well, he didnt' want to do it himself so guess who he asked? Seems a little like cheating to me - part of the course is to make this thing. Kind of like "buying' a paper.

So, ALLLLLL day I worked on this thing and I'm glad it's done.

thanks for all the suggestions guys! To the Wizard powers that be who visit this board - maybe on the next upgrade this could be a new option??!! LOL!!

thanks again everyone.
