I know the 5000 is a old discontinued model and slower and louder than the 8000. But I don't know the other differences? I have seen the 8000 make some killer logo's and designs but can the 5000 do custom logo's and designs also?

I have the chance to either buy a 5000 for $1995 or lease it for $250 transfer and 200 per month with 4000 corners. (there are thousands transferring with the CMC also) As we all know if I buy it I have no warranty unless I shell out another $1995 to Wizard but if I lease it, it is covered. I have been debating for a while now if it is financially smart to rent the 8000 for $500 start up and $325 a month for unlimited corners and then this 5000 deal came along. When I do the math if I lease the 5000 after 9 months I would have owned it but if something goes wrong I'm SOL. If you guys can give me some input that would be great. I'm very small time with my shop at my house. I mainly do sports memorabilia for my friends mall store and I also do stuff for a couple photographers. Mainly wholesale type stuff.

I cut my fingers changing the blade some years ago on a 5000. Never used it again. The 8000/8500 rocks!

no body told you ..... remove the blade on the 5000 with a magnet

Both good machines. I used the 5000 for 9 years just upgraded to the 8500approx. three months ago. Which does smoke the 5000 speed wise but the software is the same.
I feel the 8000/8500 will cut a tad more percise.
The setting for the depth of the blade is much better on the 8000/8500
I feel the 8000/8500 will give you better v-grooves and the ability to do debossing.

It is kinda like the ride you would get out of a 1960's car compared to a 2005 car.
They both get you down the road but there are some sutle differences.

$2000 you will pay for that pretty fast.......
But if they were both new side by side. I would have to tell you I would opt for The 8000 or the 8500

It is all in what your pocket will bear........or the amont of work you plan on doing.
