Do any of you know how old the Wizard 5000 machines are? I was offered one from a shop that is selling their surplus equipment. It looks in good shape but I wanted to find out if there were any downsides to this machine. He is trying to package the stuff together with the more I buy the better deal I get.
The Wizard by itself is about $5,000 (inc computer) with a package of other stuff I could get it for about $3,000. It bears no resemblance to the current model. Any info would be appreciated.

The 5000 is still a very capable and useful machine. The newest versions of the Wizard software will run on the 5000. I believe the 5000's were replaced by the newer 8000 models in the first quarter of 2003.

Even if you turn it around and trade it in towards a brand new 8000 model, it's probably worth about $8000-$9500 (trade in value) towards a new $15,995 unit

$3000 is a steal, in my opinion.
