I rent the visualization on a monthly basis. Seems like every 60-90 days, I have to renew the key with a call to Wizard support. I usually notice when I am trying to make a sale and working up a design with the customer. Of course the customer sees the distracting warning message about the rental period about to expire. Well it expired on Saturday, when customer support is closed, and so I was dead in the water in my attempt to help the customer "visualize" the final rendition of the frame and matted wedding picture. Fortunately, I was still able to make the sale.

My question is does anyone else find this annoying, and have you been able to make another arrangement with Wizard to avoid being caught "dead in the water"? It sure would be nice to have a way to renew it on the spot with an online temporary key, until we had a chance to call support on Monday! After all, I will still be billed for the down time. I find this quite frustrating. Any solutions?

The rental on the Wizard Viz system never made much since to me. I purchased mine outright as it wasn't that big of an expense.

Now I do have a rental agreement on my Wizard 8000. It does give me advance warning before my rental is to expire each month. I simply phone into an automated system, download more corners and my monthly payment is on autopay with a CC. I never have to entry a key code each month.

License Refresh/Download Corners

JPaul is correct. The software will start prompting you 15 prior to the product timing out, giving you time to refresh the product key.

You can refresh the license at any time during those 15 days by clicking the Check for Update/Check for Corners button within the License Screen. If you are connected to the internet, select Automatic, and you will not have to call customer support and get a product key as long as the account is current.

Visualization keys update

I just found out, I do not have the proper software version for obtaining a key online (even though I have requested previously). I have requested the upgrade software so I can do this unattended when necessary. I still think there has got to be a better way. We dont use the software everyday. We become aware of the pending expiration while a customer is watching the screen -- there is always a negative connotation when this happens.

Perhaps Wizard could send us an email 15 days prior to expiration, and if not resolved, have the screen show the warning 10 days before expiration. This would work - even if I have not used the software for awhile. I read mail all day long. This would solve the problem much better! The customer would never see the warning and I would become aware immediately. What do you think mighty Wizard?

I think the software should automatically check for payment (having a card on file to charge, of course).

Lifesaver will pop up with the reminder that its time to renew, but all you have to do is click 'already paid' and it updates itself.

I wouldn't like having to go through that in front of a customer, either.

Guess you should use it at least once a week. Then you don't have to worry about it popping up at the beginning of a sale.

Well that is like saying, you should use your camera at least once a week, then you dont have to worry about the battery going dead.

Now, why would I use the software when I have no need for it? And even if I did check it, and knew it was going to start generating the messages in 3 days, I cant renew it until the message appears. Hey, I wouldnt mind paying 6 months, to 1 year ahead to avoid the messages. But, Wizard has not offered that option.

I think there are better solutions. Since Wizard has the timeline in their central database, an unattended program could send out an email. Now there is something we do everyday -- read email, right?

Good idea, If you have not suggested it to them. Call them and make the suggestion. They are pretty receptive to suggestions.
Do they bill you every month or do you just have to remember to send in a payment?

I start mine up everyday so it is ready to go when I do need it. I never Know when It may not be used so easier to start it everyday. I like routines.

there are 'auto' calander alerts in things like Outlook that will notify you(IF you set it up to do so, of course) I'd think there one in your cmc package? If I dis-remember right there was one in lifesaver, yes?
