A regular customer came in yesterday and brought with her a painting on paper depicting the 12 Tribes of Israel (really beautiful, by the way)

She said the Israeli artist INSISTED on 3 inch mat border when she frames it back in the US!!!

A nice double mat, an antique looking gold frame (Presto), a fillet to match and Museum Glass.......and we had a very happy customer.

Framer and the faraway artist were happy as well.

It seems like they are few and far between but there are artists that
realize how important proper framing is to showcase their work... and
how important it is to use artist materials that will last.

I have come to refer to those people who really trust my judgment in framing as my real customers. The others who hire me to do their work are just customers. I had two real customers in yesterday. They let me do really awesome things and as a result get really awesome value for their investment.

I would call that the difference between clients and customers.

We just framed an original piece for an event coming up in October. They had posters made from the artwork and the original will be auctioned off at the event.

The artist was someone commissioned in Maryland and he had taped off on the painting exactly where he wanted the mat to be placed with minimum dimensions. Fun...nice and wide!

See.. not all artists are idiots! ;)

...and what do you call those customer who say that you are "WRONG"?

"Ohhh you can't put glass on that oil painting, it needs to breathe! See you can see that it has little lungs. Can't you see the little lungs?!"

Okay, maybe that would be a mentally unstable customer, but you see where I am going with this.
